The Route 66 Sprint Series will be holding a double-header/three-day event at the New Castle Motorsports Park (NCMP) on July 30 – August 1 that will utilize two different configurations of the track.

This is a rare opportunity to race on the Iron Man configuration of the track on Saturday, July 31. The National Track configuration will be utilized on Sunday, August 1 which provides a good racing opportunity for those also competing in the following weekends WKA Man Cup event scheduled at NCMP. This event will hold practice on Friday for both configurations of the track and a full race program for all 15 classes on both Saturday and Sunday. There will also be one round of practice held on Saturday and Sunday.

The Route 66 Series invites KRA racers to come out and race against some of the best kart racers in the mid-west during their 8-week summer break from the KRA series. The Route 66 Series has averaged 199 entries at each event this season.

There will be a free cookout for all in attendance on Saturday after the races hosted by Ostrom Sandblasting & Painting. Prizes will be given at each driver’s meeting by drawing including a set of Bridgestone tires and gift certificates.

7/22/10 - This weekend will see the two Midwest WKA Divisonal Series team up for a huge event at NCMP with the Great Lakes Sprint Series and Midwest Sprint Series putting on a combined race! This is a great opportunity to tune up before the WKA Manufacturers Cup National visits NCMP in two weeks time!

7/19/10 - Unfortunately we have not received enough entries to make the Ironman a viable event for the Race for Riley so we have cancelled the Ironman portion of the event and have added TaG Senior to the class line up. We are contacting Ironman entrants to change your entries. You can still enter the Race for Riley online.

The Race for Riley raceday schedule is available here. We will run the fast track layout, class weights for TaG Senior will be the same as KRA Senior and TaG Heavy will be the same weight as KRA TaG Masters/Sportsman (both weight groups posted below). The Motori 7 engine is not allowed in any TaG class.

Tag Senior Class -
PRD, Easy Kart - 350 lbs.
Leopard, Rotax - 360 lbs.
All Other Engines - 380 lbs.

TaG Heavy -
PRD, Easy Kart - 375 lbs.
Leopard, Rotax - 385 lbs.

7/18/10 - The 2010 Race for Riley is only 3 days away on Wednesday July 21st! The Race for Riley is a great annual charity event benefitting the Riley Children's Hospital! 6/30/10 - Attention TaG Racers, KRA will no longer require the black starter ring gear that bolts on the back of the friction hub to be in place. Simply put, they break and cost the racer money when they come apart. There seems to be no difference in performance, this applies to all TaG classes.

3/23/10 - Since the HPV Junior class was announced fairly close to the start of the 2010 season we have had some concerns from racers that they didn't have enough time to adequately prepare for the first race. Nothing will change with the class but we will allow 4 drops in the HPV Junior class this season instead of 3 for all other KRA classes.

The Racers Grill trackside restaurant will be open this Saturday.

This Sunday is the opening round of the 2010 KRA Series!
The KRA online entry form is up and going so you can preenter KRA events from home with your credit card!

3/21/10 - We are working on providing live content during our KRA races and special race events this season at NCMP. This is a work in progress and we are sure there will be some speed bumps and technical glitches along the way as we figure it all out so please keep that in mind and bear with us! One new feature we have is MyLaps Practice. If you have a MyLaps personal transponder (formerly AMB) you can use it on practice days and the results will automatically post to NCMP's MyLaps Practice page. We haven't worked all the bugs out yet but it is available. The MyLaps Practice page is available here.

Also we plan on providing live timing on our website during all KRA races and NCMP special events like the Ironman 100 and the Mazda Robopong 200 Presented by Bridgestone. The page for the live timing can be found here. We also plan on providing live video during some of our events this season but there is still a lot to do on that front!

3/15/10 - The KRA Series will have the Komet KPV Junior for the 12-15 year olds this season. The KPV class with KRA will allow the new style or old style clutch.

We have added an additional qualifying race for the Rotax series to our calender. The race will take place on Saturday June 26th.

3/12/10 - NCMP opens tomorrow for the first practice of the 2010 racing season! The weather doesn't look real promising for dry running but the track will be open for garage owners no matter the weather. Regarding kid kart practice, Kid Karts Only will run this Saturday and Sunday and next Saturday and Sunday (March 20-21) from 12:30pm to 1:30pm and 3:00pm to 3:45pm. The KRA online entry form is up and going so you can preenter KRA events from home!

2/23/10 -The 2010 KRA Membership form is now online.

2/2/10 - For 2010 KRA will add a Clone engine 4 cycle class. The Clone engines are low cost and must be run very close to box stock and the class is becoming very popular at many tracks. We will be using the new WKA International Class engine rules available here (sections 710 thru 710.20). KRA will also have a $200 claimer rule on the clone class for the engine. The Clone class will run on track with the Briggs Animal class and scored seperately. The class will also have open tires and sizes and a minimum weight of 365 lbs. The class will also allow CIK style bodywork or traditional style 4 cycle bodywork.

We realize this is a fairly outlaw approach in regards to bodywork and tires but a lot of new karters have purchased a wide variety of used, low cost equipment and this class will hopefully allow them to race without further expense. For a complete breakdown of the rules please visit the Classes Page.

1/21/10 - Happy New Year! The 2010 KRA Schedule is now available in PDF here!

After attending the WKA sprint race at Daytona as well as the first round of the Florida Winter Tour and seeing that the 08 Leopard is every bit the equal to the 09 Leopard, KRA will allow the 09 Leopard to compete in all KRA events. If for some unforeseen reason the 09 Leopard were to gain an advantage there would be a weight penalty imposed on the 09 Leopard.

Raceday Schedule

7/17/09 - Here are the currently entry counts for the Race for Riley classes, if you plan on entering a class please do so by Monday July 20th at 9am, if a class is still below the 10 kart count by then it will be dropped from the 2009 Race for Riley event. Also YHC or YKC tires will be allowed.

8 - Shifter
6 - TaG Senior
10 - TaG Sportsman
3 - Junior Can
5 - Junior Can Sportsman
1 - Kid Kart

7/13/09 - We have had a few questions about the YHC/YKC policy in KRA for the rest of the year. For the 2009 KRA season we will allow YHC or YKC tires in those classes that apply. The Robopong and Ironman events will be the new YKC tires only.

7/6/09 - With July 22 quickly approaching, our entries for the Race for Riley are not where they should be. This event is great for multiple reasons. First of all, we can all agree that Riley Children’s Hospital is an excellent charity to be behind. But something else that we as karters can benefit from with this event is an opportunity to showcase our sport to the general public. This benefits everyone in the karting community including drivers. The more people we can get into the sport the more cost effective it can be for each and every participant. There is no doubt that given the current economy, this is a tough year for everyone, but this is an investment in the future of your sport. So please get your entries in as soon as possible and let’s make this a very successful event both for the kids at Riley and karting. In the event that the classes offered fail to reach a minimum of 10 karts those classes will be dropped. The preentries will determine if we have these classes, the deadline is Saturday July 18th.

6/29/09 - On Saturday July 4th, KRA will run backwards with three rounds of practice in the morning. On Sunday July 5th, KRA will run the normal direction with the track layout to be determined. If you would like to preenter the KRA race online using a credit card, the online entry form is up on the website.

The 2009 Race for Riley will take place on Wednesday July 22nd, it's a great event with a lot of fun activites for the entire family and it's for a great cause. The raceday schedule and the print entry form or online entry form are available.

6/24/09 - The KRA Double Header weekend on July 4th and 5th will be YHC tires only in the classes that require YHC tires. Starting with the KRA race on July 26th it will be either/or YHC and the new YKC tire.

6/19/09 - This Friday and Saturday is one of the largest vintage kart gatherings in the country with karters from the 50's, 60's and 70's in attendance with some amazing machines on track from those era's. Friday night will be a dinner sponsored by Comet Kart Sales and everyone is invited to attend. The program ends around 2pm on Saturday so make it out early!

6/14/09 - The paved oval at NCMP will officially open for practice on Wednesday June 24th. The oval will have open practice on Wednesday's, Thursday's and Friday's from 10am to 8pm weekly and on Sunday's from 10am to 5pm unless otherwise noted.

6/9/09 - Starting at the next KRA Series event on July 4th, all Kid Karts MUST run the race fuel sold at NCMP as the spec fuel. All kid kart fuel must also pass fuel tech.

The date for the 2009 Mazda Robopong 200 Presented by Bridgestone has been set! The race weekend will take place on September 26th and 27th with Friday September 25th reserved for optional practice. More information on the Robopong is available here.

The finishing touches are being completed on the paved oval track at NCMP. We will announce later this week the date that the oval will open for practice.

6/2/09 - For the KRA Double Header this weekend we will run the track backwards on Saturday and the standard direction on Sunday with part of the new section added. If you would like to preenter the KRA race online using a credit card, the online entry form is up on the website.

5/15/09 - The 2009 Ironman 150 race has been postponed until later in the year. Without a minimum of 40 karts this race makes no sense in regards to purse money and media coverage. When we reschedule the race we will make preentry mandatory, if you have already preentered for the Ironman we will just hold your entry until the rescheduled race unless otherwise notified by the entrant. We hope to make this race a big event but we are also aware that putting time on your kart equipment during the middle of the season with the current economy may be a big contributor to the low kart count.

5/7/09 - This weekend's KRA Series races will run rain or shine.

5/5/09 - KRA will race the Manufacturer's Cup track layout this Saturday and a modified Ironman layout for Sunday. NCMP will also have a special Mother's Day dinner on Saturday night with a choice of Filet, Porterhouse or salmon with red skin potatoes, choice of brocolli or salad, dinner roll and a dessert, please make reservations at the Racer's Grill at the track, 765-987-8090 phone.

4/23/09 - Kid Karts are welcome to race on Saturday and Sunday with the Great Lakes Pro Series and the SIRA. If you have any questions about Kid Karts with the GLPS Saturday please email Terry Riggins.

4/10/09 - For convenience and continuity we have adjusted the weight for Yamaha Jr. Novice Sportsman from 255 lbs. to 250 lbs. so it is the same as Yamaha Jr. Sportsman 1 and 2.

4/6/09 - NCMP would like to thank all of the KRA competitors for their cooperation in getting the racing program in yesterday in the dry, despite the threat of rain all day. The Kid Kart program was cut short due to rain and their race will be held at the next KRA series race on April 19th.

4/3/09 - NCMP will be closed on April 12th for Easter Sunday.

3/27/09 - There will be Kid Kart practice this Saturday and Sunday March 28th, 29th from 12:30-1:30pm and another at 3:00-3:45pm, both days. Kid Kart practice will also be available at those times again on Saturday April 4th. We will also have Kid Kart practice on Tuesday evenings from 5:00-8:00pm.

If you would like to preenter the KRA race online using a credit card, the online entry form is up on the website.

3/12/09 - Opening day for the track is Saturday March 21st. Practice will be for Juniors and Seniors only on Saturday. The first day for Kid Kart practice will be on Sunday March 22nd from 12:30-1:30pm and a second session from 3:00-3:45pm. Leopard, Rotax - 360 lbs.
All Other Engines - 380 lbs.

The 2009 Tag Masters/Sportsman Class Weights will be as follows -

PRD, Easy Kart - 375 lbs.
Leopard, Rotax - 385 lbs.
All Other Engines - 400 lbs.

Any driver weighing 200 lbs. or more will be eligible to participate in any Masters class regardless of age. It is nearly impossible for a driver of this weight to have a competitive chance in the other weight divisions

With the ICC class becoming less and less popular and the Stock Motos becoming more popular, KRA will change the ICC class to be known as ICC/Stock Moto. The ICC weight will be raised 10 lbs to 395 lbs with the Stock Moto weight being 370 lbs. This in NO WAY will change the current Stock Moto class, it will remain at 400lbs and still be known as Stock Moto. Hopefully this will encourage the lighter drives to participate in the ICC/Stock Moto class and the bigger drivers to partcipate in the Stock Moto class, they will race at the same time and be scored seperately.

2/11/09 - The 2009 NCMP Schedule is now posted. Download the PDF here.

12/16/08 - For the 2009 KRA season, KRA will not allow the new generation Leopard to compete in any class except Unlimited. Until the performance of the new engine is evaluated, KRA will not risk obsoleting everyone's investment in the current Leopard.
