The 2013 NCMP schedule has had a couple updates, the Race for Riley will take place on Tuesday July 23rd and not Wednesday which has been the traditional day in the past. Also the 2013 Robopong 200 is scheduled for October 26th and 27th.
The KRA raceday schedule has been changed a little with Yamaha Rookie moving to the first race of the day. The updated schedule is available here.
4/3/13 - Sunday April 7th is the first race of the 2013 KRA Series season! You can pre-enter online until Friday night at midnight. We hope to see you there!
The 2013 KRA Raceday Schedule is now available.
3/29/13 - KRA banquet certificates expire on April 1st at 6pm. If you haven't used your merchandise or tire certificates yet make sure you use them by then! We still have a number of them outstanding and it's your responsibility to use it before the expiration date. And despite the date it is not an April Fool's joke.
3/22/13 - With snow coming on Sunday the King of the Castle will run all races on Saturday including Sunday's races.
3/18/13 - The Maxxis King of the Castle race is a GO! This event should be wide open, no one has experience with the Maxxis tire in cool temps and a green race track. Should be a wild weekend! NCMP will have plenty of hot chocolate and coffee, let's go racing!
3/11/13 - With KRA switching to 5" tires for the Clone Senior class this year, we implemented a max width wheel rule for that class but the question was raised if the Clone CIK class was also using the same width rules. The answer is no. The point of the Clone CIK class is to provide a simpler more mainstream class and allowing super wide wheel widths goes against that. After measuring multiple standard width wheels in Aluminum and Magnesium we have set the max overall wheel width for Clone CIK to 5 1/2" front and 8 3/8" rear. Those numbers should cover the majority of wheels used in the class.
3/7/13 -Unfortunately the snow this week has forced us to cancel the opening of the track and garages this weekend. We received a large amount of snow and there is a lot of drifting in front of the garages and the parking lot currently has flooding issues which will only get worse as the snow melts. We will open for business on Wednesday from 10am to 5pm and commence our regular business hours after that. We apologize for the inconvenience but the snow has really caused a lot of issues at NCMP.
3/6/13 - KRA will be implementing new engine tech rules for the Parilla Leopard and Yamaha KT100 in 2013. These new rules will address an ongoing issue with cylinders that have been modified in the port area. Even though this rule may make it necessary for a handful of racers to purchase new cylinders, it will most definately prevent hundreds from ever needing to have modifications done that will cost each racer hundreds per cylinder. This rule change WILL NOT impact the majority of racers.
KRA will not be the only series putting "blowdown" rules into effect, as a number of regional and national series are also adopting similar rules. These rules are in place to eliminate any Leopard or Yamaha cylinder from having an advantage over another and puts the emphasis on driving, experience and chassis tuning. KRA may also apply this rule to other engine types in the future if deemed necessary.
Parilla Leopard - Transfers checked with LAD tool - Minimum blowdown .395", Maximum .405".
Exhaust checked with LAD tool - Minimum blowdown .235", Maximum .265" (boost port checked with controlling edge of ring).
To check Transfer Blowdown - Subtract highest exhaust port height from highest transfer port using LAD tool.
To check Boost Blowdown - (From TDC) Rotate piston past boost port opening .100", rotate back up until controlling edge of ring closes boost port.
Subtract highest boost port height from highest exhaust port height
*Parilla Leopard must run OEM IAME stock reeds only
Yamaha KT100 - Minimum blowdown .380", maximum .410" as measured with LAD tool
2/22/13 - KRA Clone class rules for the clutch and flywheel will remain unchanged for 2013. Shoe type clutch only and ARC SFI flywheel only. Some organizations are allowing disc clutches in clone class which will only escalate the price of a class that is designed to be low cost.
1/31/13 - The 2013 NCMP and KRA schedule is now complete and available online!
Attention shifter kart enthusiasts, a group of like minded kart owners have plans to invigorate the class for 2013. At the core is bringing more karts and drivers to the race track to share the incredible adventure experienced in a shifter kart. As we all know, nothing makes that adventure more enjoyable than having someone on the track racing with you.
Participation is our focus, all levels of equipment and talent have a place to play.
If you currently participate in shifter racing, thought about trying the class or have a kart that has been sitting for a season or two, we would like to hear from you. We are not about changing the existing format and rules, rather we desire to bring racers of all levels together on targeted KRA race days for a rewarding and satisfying “day at the track”. Please contact Rob Lehmann (260)348-3517 for more details.
1/8/13 - The Maxxis Pro Challenge race is confirmed for March 22-24 at NCMP. All TaG Classes will be Leopard only. For more information visit their website.
1/3/13 - Happy New Year! As was announced at the year end banquet, KRA will go to 5" wheels and YLC tires in both clone classes for 2013. Wheel width rules are on the classes page at the bottom for clone.
Another change for 2013 will be the addition of the Yamaha Rookie class. Yamaha Rookie is for drivers 7-12 years old and will run on track with the Novice classes. Yamaha Rookie requires a YBX 3 hole exhaust, WA55 carb. The class will run for points and scored separate from Novice. If a driver wins the Yamaha Rookie points twice they will have to move up. The rookie class is a great choice for new racers or those that have moved out of kid karts.
